Earthquake Preparedness Drill
DATE: Thursday, October 15, 2026
TIME: 10:15 AM
LOCATION: Lumen West LA – Within Your Suite/Workspace
ESTIMATED DURATION: Approximately 5–10 Minutes
Dear Lumen West LA Members,
Earthquakes can happen without warning, and being prepared can make a significant difference. As part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and preparedness of our building community, Lumen West LA will be participating in the 2026 Great California ShakeOut, a statewide earthquake preparedness drill.
At approximately 10:15 AM on Thursday, October 15, 2026, earthquake drill messaging will be broadcast through the building's PA system.
This exercise will take place within your individual suite or workspace. There is no need to report to a common area or evacuate the building. Upon hearing the PA announcement, members are encouraged to participate from their current location by practicing the recommended DROP, COVER, and HOLD ON procedure.
WHAT TO EXPECT
At the start of the exercise, a message will be played over the building PA system notifying occupants that the earthquake drill has begun.
When you hear the announcement, please remain within your suite or workspace and practice the following:
DROP – Drop to your hands and knees to help prevent being knocked down.
COVER – Cover your head and neck and, if possible, take shelter underneath a sturdy desk or table. Stay away from windows, glass, and objects that could fall.
HOLD ON – Hold on to your shelter and remain in position until the simulated shaking has stopped and the PA messaging indicates the exercise has concluded.
IMPORTANT REMINDER
This is a preparedness exercise only and does not require building evacuation. Please remain within your suite or workspace throughout the exercise unless otherwise directed by Lumen West LA Management or emergency personnel.
We appreciate everyone's cooperation and participation in helping keep Lumen West LA prepared and safe.
