Fire Life System Safety Testing This Month

As part of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance, LUMEN WestLA will be conducting its annual Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Reg-4 testing on October 24th and October 25th. This mandatory testing ensures that all life safety systems within the building are functioning properly and meet LAFD requirements.

Testing Dates: October 24th & October 25th 
Testing Hours: 4PM - 4AM

During this period, our certified life safety contractors (TRL SYSTEMS) will be inspecting and testing various systems, including fire alarm and detection systems, sprinkler and standpipe systems, smoke control and exhaust systems, emergency power and lighting, elevator recall functions and fire pumps and other related safety equipment.

While every effort will be made to minimize disruption, please be aware of the following:

Audible Alarms: Throughout testing, fire alarm horns and strobes will sound intermittently. No action is required unless instructed otherwise by building management or the LAFD.  Every effort will be made to ensure audible alarms that impact your space do no commence until after 6PM, but you may hear alarms in nearby vacant spaces before then.  

Temporary Power Interruptions: As part of emergency power and generator testing, there may be brief building-wide power outages. Please ensure that all critical equipment and data are properly saved or powered down in advance.

Elevator Interruptions: Elevators will be temporarily taken out of service during specific phases of the testing process, particularly for recall and emergency power verification. Please plan accordingly and allow extra time for building access.

To ensure a smooth testing process: Notify your employees of the testing schedule and impacts, avoid calling 911 or evacuating unless directed, secure sensitive electronic equipment in case of brief power loss and contact your IT team to ensure data servers or other critical systems are protected.
